The Char'd Story
Meet Rich and the Korman Family
We were connectors: the electrician and teacher by vocation. On weekends, we’d organize gatherings for our friends: bonfires, ARKtoberfests, gourmet groups, community group, friend groups, parties. It was always about the people and the food. Our Texas friends opened Rich’s eyes to The Smoker. He was hooked! From then on, Rich smoked meat for all gatherings. He read books, experimented with rubs and flavor and at the end of the night, he heard the same comment, “You should do this for a living.”
The owner of Spring Meadow approached us to run the pit beef shack on the property. The starry-eyed dreamer and his wife said YES. We are a small family business. Our team members include mothers, sisters, nieces, daughters and people we have hired and love like family. Our love of family and relationship flows into our food.
We still connect. And it’s STILL all about the people and the food. In a polarizing time, one-way we can all find a common ground: physical nourishment. A brisket sandwich or platter can be a respite. Each bite, each meal, is a pause from life, from your circumstance. Whether you are celebrating a special moment or having a difficult conversation, we desire to be your starting point. Let our smoked eats nourish your body; the time and presence it creates, nourish your soul. We want to help you facilitate meals that move from menial to meaningful. Around the table is where connection and relationship happen. Around the table is where restoration, growth and healing occur. Around the table is where wisdom is shared and traditions develop. Therefore, we work hard to create flavor and ideas that will bring you back for more.
With great humility and purpose, the dreamer and his wife and our team are here to serve you. We hope to bless your hearts and bellies through the environment we created at Char’d Barbecue.
